New Delhi: Union minister Jitendra Singh on Saturday said the Emergency was imposed in India due to a "self-righteous and authoritarian mindset, combined with opportunism and a lack of democratic ethos." He added that such tendencies still existed in the country's political landscape.Singh was speaking at a symposium held at the Delhi legislative assembly to mark 50 years of the Emergency.
