New Delhi, Jun 28 (PTI) A man was stabbed to death following a scuffle over his scooter allegedly brushing past a minor in the Geeta Colony area here, leading to three persons, including the juvenile, being nabbed, an official said on Saturday. Yash (20), a resident of Rani Garden, was declared dead at a Laxmi Nagar hospital around 9.41 pm on Friday, police said. Md Amaan and Lucky were arrested while the third accused, the minor, was taken into custody, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said. Yash was on his way home on a scooter when the two-wheeler allegedly brushed past the juvenile, sparking a heated argument. The minor's two associates -- Amaan and Lucky -- got involved as well. According to police sources, Yash was driving in a narrow lane when his scooter grazed the minor. "An argument broke out between the two groups. In the heat of the moment, Yash's cousin slapped Amaan. Since Amaan is a local criminal in the area, he sought revenge, which led to the three chasing Yash and his cousin," the source added. The three accused pursued Yash towards the Geeta Colony Pusta flyover. During the chase, Amaan allegedly stabbed Yash in the lower back, a senior police officer said. Locals quickly took Yash to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. A murder case was registered, and an investigation is underway, the police said. Speaking to the media, Yash's cousin Aman Sharma said, "There were about four to five of them. The first one who attacked us initially fled but quickly returned with a group of others; it felt like a planned attack." He expressed that it seemed intentional when the accused allegedly brushed against their scooter. "After they stabbed my brother, I tried to catch them. My brother urged me to run away, but I could not. I stopped and held him, and we both tried to escape," Aman said. Mamta, a neighbour, expressed frustration with the legal consequences for juveniles, saying, "Why is it that even when someone commits such a heinous crime, they can be released just because they are juveniles? They should be apprehended, and the punishment needs to be severe." She further mentioned that they were unfamiliar with the accused before the incident but later discovered that they owned a store on another street. "We went there last night to see who they were, but there was heavy police presence. When we knocked on the door, the police stopped us and advised us against taking the law into our own hands. But how can we control our emotions? There is so much grief; he was like our child," she added. Earlier in the day, Union Minister of State and East Delhi MP Harsh Malhotra, accompanied by local MLA Dr Anil Goel, visited Yash's residence in Rani Garden to meet with his grieving parents and offer condolences and support. Malhotra assured the family that the Delhi Police would investigate the case with diligence and a strong case would be prepared.
