A woman in MP was stabbed by lover on Friday. ( Image Credit: TV9 Hindi) New Delhi: In a horrifying incident, a woman from Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh was killed after her lover slit her throat with a knife. The incident happened on Friday when the victim reached the hospital around 3 pm to attend the scheduled training session. Accused tried to kill himself The man entered the premises of the hospital where the training session was underway and carried out the attack in the presence of the other participants and the hospital staff. After listing the throat of the girl, the man tried to commit suicide in a failed attempt. Sensing the gravity of the situation, he fled from the spot to avoid police action. But he was arrested by the police later. Giving details of the incident, Superintendent of Police Mrigakhi Deka stated that the victim was attacked suddenly by her lover during the training session. "Today at around 3 PM, a woman, who is a class 12th pass, was standing in the district hospital, and her lover suddenly reached there and stabbed her in the neck with a knife, resulting in her death on the spot. After that, the accused also tried to kill himself but failed. He then fled from the scene. Later, the police arrested the accused," SP Mrigakhi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. She further said that the attack was carried out in front of many people. The incident, which happened in a fraction of time, was recorded on the CCTV cameras installed inside the hospital. The police have recovered the sharp weapon used in the crime. "We have recovered the knife and the statement of the parent of the woman, yet to be recorded. We would take their statement and then follow further action on the matter accordingly," SP Mrigakhi added. Presumed discord between couple After launching the initial probe in the case, SP Mrigakhi asserted that the victim and the accused were allegedly in a relationship for the last 2 years. According to the police officer, the accused had probably been harassing the woman for the last two weeks, and the woman might not have informed her family about the harassment. "The accused told the police that he had been in a relationship with the woman for the past two years. For the last two weeks, he was probably harassing her. The woman might not have told the story to her family, and right now, her family members are also not in a state to give a statement. Today, the incident occurred," the officer said.
