Kolkata Law Student Rape Case: The security guard of South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata's Kasba, identified as Pinaki Banerjee, 55, has also been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 24-year-old law student on June 25. A total of four persons have been arrested so far. A complaint was filed on Thursday night, and the Kasba police station arrested three people in connection with the incident. They were identified as Manojit Mishra, 31, Zaib Ahmed, 19, and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, 20. They were produced before court and sent to police custody till July 1. Pinaki was also charged with the gang-rape provision of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Meanwhile, a medico-legal examination of the victim will be done today. "I cried and asked him to let me go. I told them I have a boyfriend and I love my boyfriend. But he did not agree," she said in the complaint. She alleged in her complaint that he hit her with a hockey stick. During the incident, she experienced breathing difficulties and asked for an inhaler. After using it, she was taken to the security guard's room on the ground floor, next to the students' union office, where the assault allegedly continued. According to the victim's medical report, abrasion marks have been found around the neck and breasts of the first-year law student at Calcutta Law College in Kolkata. The medical report has asserted that the possibility of sexual assault cannot be ruled out, sources told CNN-News18. The case has heightened concerns over safety of women in Kolkata campuses, coming less than a year after the dastardly rape and murder case of a post-graduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Taking suo motu cognisance of the incident, the National Women's Commission asked the Kolkata Police to file a detailed action taken report within three days.
