Telangana tragedy: 6-year-old comes under tipper as mom tries to overtake from left; police say woman had no driving licence | Hyderabad News - Times of India

HYDERABAD: A six-year-old boy on way to school was killed when he came under the wheels of a tipper after his mother riding the two-wheeler brushed past it and lost control while overtaking in Dundigal on Friday morning. Abhimanyu Reddy was a class 1 student at Geetanjali International School in Bowrampet and a resident of Akasha Layout in Mallampet. "At around 8 am near Pallavi School Junction, Niharika lost balance of the scooter while trying to overtake it from the left. Niharika fell to the left and escaped unharmed, but Abhimanyu fell on the right and came under the rear wheel of the tipper," Dundigal inspector P Sateesh said.The boy died on the spot. CCTV camera footage showed the mother in an inconsolable state after her child died right in front of her eyes. During the preliminary probe, police found that Niharika did not have a driving licence. Police said the scooter belonged to the woman's family and they were collecting its registration details. Police later shifted the body for postmortem. On the complaint of the boy's father, Raju, a private finance company worker, a case was registered under section 106 (1) (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
