Illegal arms manufacturer held with ammunition and deer skin | Lucknow News - Times of India

Lucknow: A joint team from Malihabad and Rahimabad police stations arrested a 68-year-old man allegedly involved in manufacturing and selling illegal firearms in the Mirzaganj area of Malihabad on Friday. The accused, Salauddin alias Lala, was also found in possession of prohibited deer skin and a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and tools used in making illegal arms.Police received a tip-off that a man near the old picture hall in Mirzaganj was in possession of illegal weapons and was waiting to sell them to potential buyers. Acting swiftly, the team reached the spot and arrested Salauddin. It recovered eight live cartridges of .315 bore from his possession. When interrogated, Salauddin confessed to manufacturing firearms at his residence in the same area. He was taken to the premises where the alleged arms factory was being operated.The search to the seizure of a huge cache of weapons and tools, including three countrymade pistols (.32 bore), one countrymade pistol (.315 bore), two countrymade pistols (.22 bore), one rifle (.22 bore), seven air guns, 18 live cartridges (.315 bore), 68 live cartridges (.22 bore), 30 cartridges (12 bore), used shells, six cleavers, two knives, one hacksaw, nine axes, arms-making tools, Rs 2,000 in cash, and a piece of prohibited deer skin.One piece of prohibited deer skin, suspected to belong to a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Act was also seized. According to police, Salauddin was not only manufacturing illegal firearms but also involved in their distribution across regions, said DCP north Gopal Chaudhary.
