Indian Man Caught Smuggling Kush into Sri Lanka via BIA

COLOMBO (News 1st); An Indian national was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake for attempting to smuggle a large quantity of Kush, a potent cannabis strain, into Sri Lanka. The arrest was made during a joint operation conducted by the Police Narcotics Bureau and Sri Lanka Customs. Authorities recovered 2 kilograms and 130 grams of Kush concealed in a false bottom of the suspect's travel bag. According to police, the estimated street value of the seized narcotics exceeds Rs. 20 million. The suspect, a 38-year-old Indian national, had arrived in Sri Lanka from Chennai aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL 124. Investigations revealed that the drugs had been carefully hidden in a specially modified compartment of his luggage.
