NEW DELHI: Three minors were involved in the violence that erupted in Sambhal on November 24 over a Mughal-era mosque survey, a senior official confirmed Wednesday. Moradabad divisional commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh stated the number could change as the investigation continues. "The number of minors involved in the case was 3 until yesterday. But this number can change." The minors are undergoing counseling and will be enrolled in educational and skill development programs. Authorities also recovered a knife, described as a dangerous weapon if used in a crowd. "We have recovered a knife. It can be very dangerous if used in a crowd," Singh noted. He added that authorities will continue to investigate and identify everyone involved in the incident. "We will identify the anti-social elements in society and will expose all those who were involved in this conspiracy," Singh said. Security forces remain deployed in Sambhal for the third consecutive day following the violence, which resulted in four deaths and multiple injuries. Although internet access remains restricted, other limitations have been lifted as the situation returns to normal, according to Sambhal SP Krishan Kumar. Twenty-seven arrests have been made, consisting of 25 men and two women. Seven FIRs have been registered related to the violence. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and have identified over 100 individuals involved in the incident. Sambhal MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq was issued a notice under Section 168 of the BNS on November 23. "After the Sunday incident that took place in Sambhal district, the police had called for a precautionary internet shutdown, which continues.
