Thane: In a swift and well-coordinated operation, Ulhasnagar Crime Branch Unit 4 officials, along with police, rescued a four-year-old girl, who was abducted from near her Badlapur (W) residence, and arrested the kidnapper from his hometown in Madhya Pradesh within 24 hours of the crime being reported.On Tuesday, Badlapur (W) police registered a case against Ranjit Dhurve (26) for allegedly kidnapping the girl based on her mother's complaint. The crime branch launched a parallel investigation into the case.Acting on a tip-off and after analysing CCTV footage of the area, teams from the crime branch unit 4, and Ambernath and Badlapur (W) police stations were dispatched to MP. With the assistance of Umreth police in Chhindwara district, Dhurve was located and the child was rescued and handed over to her parents on Wednesday. The entire operation was completed within 24 hours of the FIR registration, said DCP (Crime) Amar Singh Jadhav.The motive behind the kidnapping is still under investigation, but preliminary information suggests that Dhurve may have acted out of anger after the girl's mother allegedly refused to provide him food.
