Jaipur: So far, so good. That's how the one-week performance of the south-west monsoon can be summed up. Till now, the state has received an average rainfall of 92.54mm compared to 39.54mm recorded till June 26, 2024. It shows that this year, the state received almost 134% higher rainfall compared to 2024. Except for the Jodhpur division, most of the districts have received abnormal or excess rainfall this year so far.The data of rainfall after the monsoon completed almost a week revealed that Baran district received the highest rainfall in the state till now, with 326mm recorded in this district till Thursday. "However, during this period in 2024, Baran received a rainfall of merely 70.70mm," said an official of the Met office, Jaipur.Jaisalmer, in this season so far has received only 3.25 mm rainfall, putting it in the category of scanty rainfall. Monsoon has been good so far in the Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions; however, it is yet to gain momentum in the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.Many places in the state witnessed mild to moderate showers Thursday. Bhungra (Banswara) received a rainfall of 110mm - highest in the state. It was followed by Danpur (Banswara) and Masuda (Banswara), where a rainfall of 80 mm was recorded, Kesarpura (Banswara) and Suratgarh (Sriganganagar) 60mm each, and Pratapgarh 50mm. Also, rainfall varying from 10mm to 50mm was recorded at several places in Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Dholpur, Bhilwara, Udaipur, and Jodhpur districts.People in Jaipur witnessed a dry day as no rainfall was witnessed in and around the city. However, due to the cloudy conditions, a maximum temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius was recorded. However, by late evening the city experienced mild showers. The Met office, in its forecast for Jaipur, said that thundershowers are likely to occur in and around the city Friday.In its forecast for the next week, the Jaipur Met office said that many places in Ajmer, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Kota, and Udaipur divisions are likely to get mild to moderate showers till July 3. However, in the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, some places are likely to get mild showers during the next week.
NEW DELHI/BATHINDA: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Friday conducted searches at 22 de-addiction centres across Punjab, including in Chandigarh, Barnala and Ludhiana, after its investigation revealed illegal sale of drugs by these centres. The agency also searched a premise in Mumbai linked to the accused.Dr Amit Bansal, who runs these 22 centres, is prime accused in the case, sources said. Jaipur: Over three weeks into the southwest monsoon, Rajasthan has recorded significantly improved rainfall, with no district reporting scanty or deficit rain.
