Ahmedabad: The state, in the 24 hours ending at 5pm on Saturday, added 183 new Covid cases. With this update, the active cases reached 822. Out of the total, 29 were hospitalised, whereas the rest were under home isolation, indicated the bulletin of the state health department. A total of 78 patients also recorded recovery in 24 hours, added the bulletin, with no new deaths.Civil Hospital officials said that the hospital has three patients, including a 96-year-old man. "All are stable -- two are given oxygen, whereas one is given a non-rebreather mask (NRBM)," said an official. Several doctors at Sola Civil Hospital tested positive earlier this week, whereas some of the patients in the city were below 10 years of age.Gujarat remained in the second spot in terms of active cases across India after 1,806 cases in Kerala. The Covid tally crossed the 5,000-case mark on Friday as the current wave recorded 59 deaths in India, including four in the past 24 hours, according to the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) dashboard.
