DELHI -- A rodent-borne virus led to the death of the only African elephant at the zoo in India's capital Delhi, officials have told the BBC. Shankar, a 29-year-old male, died on 17 September after spending much of his life in isolation. The cause of his death wasn't known at the time. MUMBAI, Oct 31 -- Indian customs officers have arrested a plane passenger after discovering two endangered gibbons stuffed inside a checked bag, the latest animals seized from smugglers at Mumbai's airport. Hyderabad: Hyderabad's Nehru Zoo Park (NZP) is set to welcome new attractions after several years, including a mandrill from Jamshedpur, Hoolock Gibbons from Nagaland, and Zebras from Gujarat.
