New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday quelled concerns over cooking gas availability in the capital, asserting that LPG supply remains "stable and adequate" as authorities step up action against alleged hoarding and black marketing. In a statement, Gupta said there was "no shortage of LPG or any other fuel" in Delhi and urged residents not to be misled by rumours. "There is no need for panic," she said, calling on consumers to avoid crowding distribution centres and to rely on doorstep delivery systems. According to official data shared by the Chief Minister, 1,11,504 LPG bookings were recorded across the city on April 3, while deliveries stood higher at 1,26,379 cylinders. The government said this indicates that backlogs are being cleared and supply chains are functioning without disruption. The average delivery time for domestic LPG cylinders has also come down to 4.37 days, the statement added. The assurance comes amid reports of panic buying in some areas. Gupta said the administration is maintaining "constant oversight" to ensure uninterrupted supply and warned of strict action against any violations in the distribution system. To check irregularities, the Delhi government has set up a dedicated control room to monitor complaints related to LPG supply. Based on "credible inputs", several cases were referred to police, leading to coordinated enforcement action, the statement said. Police teams carried out 22 raids across different parts of the city. In one such operation in North Rohini, an FIR was registered, and six illegally stored LPG cylinders were seized, according to the statement. Gupta said the government remains vigilant against black marketing and hoarding, adding that such activities would be dealt with firmly. She reiterated that consumers do not need to visit gas agencies once a booking is made, as cylinders will be delivered within the stipulated timeframe. Reaffirming the administration's position, the Chief Minister appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with authorities, stating that Delhi is "fully geared" to ensure seamless LPG supply.
