Srinagar, Apr 03: Visitors using the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) parking facility at Hari Singh High Street (HSHS) have raised concerns over alleged mismanagement, stating that the absence of staff at crucial times is causing inconvenience and financial strain. Several commuters said that while attendants issue receipts at the time of vehicle entry, they are often not present when visitors return to collect their vehicles. This forces people to wait for extended periods, sometimes over half an hour, leading to delays and frustration. "We park our vehicles and are given proper receipts, but when we come back, there is no one present to manage the exit or collect the fee," said a visitor. "We are left waiting until the staff returns, which wastes our time." Some visitors alleged that such delays often result in additional parking charges. "They come late, and we end up paying extra because of the delay from their side. It is unfair," another commuter said. Locals said the issue may stem from a shortage of staff. According to them, only two SSCL personnel are deployed to manage the busy parking facility, making it difficult to handle the volume of vehicles. A shopkeeper in the area echoed similar concerns, stating that attendants are frequently seen moving around instead of being stationed at the parking site. "These parking employees keep roaming here and there, which creates problems for people who have parked their vehicles," he said. The issue has prompted calls for authorities to streamline parking management at the busy commercial hub to ensure better service and avoid inconvenience to the public. "If they cannot provide good service, why are they charging us so much?" locals said.
