Dhubri, April 3: AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday launched a sharp political offensive against the Congress while campaigning in Dhubri, asserting that the party has lost credibility and is functioning as the "A-team" of the BJP. Addressing a large gathering on the second day of his Assam visit, Owaisi campaigned in support of AIUDF candidates across the district, including Nazrul Hoque and Jamsher Talukder. "Congress has become the A-team of the BJP. Leaders continue to defect from the party, and people no longer repose trust in it," he said. He also alleged that Muslims in Assam have been "targeted in the name of eviction" and projected the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) as a political safeguard for the community. Referring to the last Lok Sabha elections, Owaisi claimed that voters in Dhubri were "misled" by the Congress. "I miss Badruddin Ajmal in Parliament. The Congress could not stop Modi. Had Ajmal been there, he would have raised his voice against evictions," the AIMIM chief stated. He also criticised the current representation from Dhubri, alleging that the constituency lacks a strong and effective voice in Parliament. Projecting AIUDF's electoral prospects, Owaisi said the party could emerge as a decisive force in government formation if it secures around 29 seats in the Assembly. "If AIUDF gets 29 seats, neither BJP nor Congress can form the government without you. They will have to come to you," he said.
