Hyderabad: BRS MLA Sudheer Reddy on Thursday targeted the government, accusing it of ignoring the mosquito menace despite people suffering severely in the state capital, and donned a gown stitched from a mosquito net. The BRS leader arrived in the mosquito net gown at the Assembly premises to address a press conference in the media conference hall near the Media Point. However, the marshals present in the Assembly took away the net garment. Sudheer Reddy said that in Hyderabad, if someone opens their mouth, it is certain that mosquitoes may get inside. The people of Hyderabad are suffering severely due to this infestation. During our tenure, we used to take measures four or five times a year to ensure the city remained free from mosquitoes. This government is taking absolutely no measures to control them; consequently, poor citizens are falling ill with Dengue and Malaria and ending up hospitalised, said Sudheer Reddy. The BRS leader said that people were now questioning whether there was any need for a government that is incapable of curbing the mosquito menace. Certain regulations regarding such matters seem to be enforced only when the Assembly sessions are in progress.
