Thiruvananthapuram (Keralam) [India], April 1 (ANI): Keralam Finance Minister KN Balagopal on Wednesday asserted that the state's financial position and administrative performance remain steady, while alleging that the Union government has adopted a "negative" stance towards opposition-ruled states, leading to a significant reduction in their revenues. Speaking to ANI on the state's fiscal health and governance, Balagopal said, "Kerala's finances and total performance in the administrative sector are going forward smoothly." He emphasised that despite various challenges, the state government continues to function effectively across sectors. However, the minister strongly criticised the Centre's approach towards states governed by opposition parties. "The central government's attitude to the opposition ruled states is very negative, and there is a stark cut in the revenues," he said, pointing to what he described as a systematic strain on state finances. Balagopal further claimed that the issue is not limited to Kerala alone but is being faced by multiple states across the country. "Every opposition state is affected by the attitude of the Union government," he added. The remarks come as Keralam Assembly elections will go on poll in a single phase on April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4.
