SRINAGAR, Mar 30: National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today pleaded before the court that he is not guilty of charges of fund misappropriation in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). Abdullah appeared through virtual mode before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar today. The Presiding Officer of the court formally read out the contents of the charge sheet filed by CBI against him. Follow the Daily Excelsior channel on WhatsApp "No, I am not guilty of any of the charges," Abdullah told the court. To the court's query on whether he wished to say anything further, he stated, "I have nothing more to say except that these charges are fabricated." The court would now proceed in the matter as per procedure. It is noted that the court on March 2 had recorded that the case against Abdullah and five others in J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) multi-crore scam under various offences has been made out as such the charge is to be framed against them. The court in its earlier order had said that the essential ingredients of offences under section 120-B (Criminal conspiracy), 406 (Criminal breach of trust) and 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant) of RPC have prima facie been made out against Abdullah (former JKCA president) and other accused Mohammad Saleem Khan (the then JKCA General Secretary), Ahsan Mirza (the then treasurer of JKCA) Manzoor Gazanfar Ali, Bashir Ahmad Misgar (former J&K Bank executive) and Gulzar Ahmad Beigh.
