Sasaram: Although the Grand Alliance (GA) managed to retain only one of the 11 assembly seats in Rohtas district -- Karakat -- the election results indicate that the alliance continues to enjoy strong support among govt employees who cast their votes through postal ballots. In almost every segment, GA candidates received more postal-ballot votes than their NDA counterparts. Notably, govt employees also pressed NOTA in every assembly segment of the twin districts.In Sasaram, out of the total 2,21,091 votes polled, 1,082 were postal ballots. Among these, RJD received 517 votes, followed by RLM with 305, Jan Suraaj with 95, and BSP in fourth position. Eight govt employees used postal ballots to select NOTA. The total NOTA count in the segment stood at 961.In Chenari (SC), of the total 2,05,793 votes polled, 849 were postal ballots. Congress candidate Mangala Ram secured 409 postal-ballot votes, while LJP(RV) received 269, followed by Jan Suraaj with 93. Four postal ballots were stamped NOTA. The total NOTA count in this segment was 2,328.In Nokha, out of 928 postal ballots, RJD secured over 52% (451 votes), followed by JD(U) with 378 and Jan Suraaj with 65.
