Srinagar, Oct 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decisive leadership has transformed India's security landscape and economy, calling his tenure an era that "secured the nation and crushed terror sanctuaries." Addressing a series of rallies in poll-bound Bihar, Shah said that for seven decades, no government dared to revoke Article 370, but Modi ended that "historic injustice" in 2019, fully integrating Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. "For 70 years, no one touched Article 370. But in 2019, Prime Minister Modi removed it and crushed terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir like no one had ever done before," Shah said, adding that the move signaled India's determination to act decisively on national security and sovereignty. Highlighting the country's economic progress, Shah said India has climbed from the 11th to the 4th-largest economy in the world under Modi's leadership and will soon become the third-largest by 2027. "Modi has brought India from 11th to 4th position. We will move to the third before 2027. He has not only made our country strong but also secure," he said. The Home Minister asserted that India's growth has been matched by robust internal and external security measures, saying, "When the world looks at India today, it sees a confident nation capable of bold decisions." Referring to major terror attacks such as Uri (2016), Pulwama (2019) and the recent Pahalgam attack (2025), Shah said the Modi government responded with surgical strikes, air strikes and the newly launched Operation Sindoor. "Earlier governments hesitated to act. They feared losing votes. But Modi's India responds firmly, terrorists are neutralized in their hideouts, not glorified on television," he said. Shah said Operation Sindoor, carried out after the Pahalgam attack, demonstrated the government's zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. "Modi has made India's borders secure and internal security strong. Every citizen today feels safer because the government stands firm against those who threaten peace," he said. Turning to electoral integrity in Bihar, Shah criticised the INDIA bloc for opposing the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging that opposition parties were shielding infiltrators. "Tell me, should the names of infiltrators remain in Bihar's voter list? Form the NDA government again and I promise that every infiltrator will be detected, deleted, and deported," he said to loud cheers. Shah accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of defending infiltrators through his so-called "Ghuspetiya Bachao Yatra". "Let him take out a thousand yatras; he cannot protect infiltrators. The law will prevail," Shah said, claiming the NDA's stand was about protecting the democratic process, not politics. Shah said elections must reflect the will of Indian citizens, not the influence of illegal infiltration," he added. He said the upcoming Bihar elections would decide whether the state continues on the path of development or returns to "jungle raj." "This election will decide whether Bihar moves forward with Modi ji and Nitish ji or goes back to corruption and lawlessness," he said, lauding the NDA government for restoring law and order. Shah said the NDA government had reduced heinous crimes across Bihar and changed the state's image. "Under the RJD rule, murders, dacoities and other crimes were common. Under NDA, such incidents have declined sharply," he claimed. He said Bihar's youth, farmers and entrepreneurs now want continuity of good governance and development. "People of Bihar want progress, not return to fear and corruption," he said, urging voters to back the NDA. Shah said India under Prime Minister Modi had emerged as a strong and self-reliant nation. "From surgical strikes in 2016 to air strikes in 2019 and Operation Sindoor in 2025, India has shown it will not tolerate terrorism or infiltration.
