Mumbai: In a major setback for the Shiv Sena (UBT) in its erstwhile bastion of Konkan, former MLA Rajan Teli joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Thursday. Teli joined the Sena (UBT) last year before the assembly elections from the BJP. Teli fought the 2024 assembly elections from Sawantwadi on a Sena (UBT) ticket and lost to the Sena's Deepak Kesarkar. His entry into the Shinde Sena now leaves the Sena (UBT) with a severe dent in the Konkan region. Teli claimed he was not getting an opportunity to work in Sena (UBT) and alleged that the demand for organisation building was also ignored. MLA Bhaskar Jadhav is Sena's (UBT) only sitting MLA in the Konkan, which spans across Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, and was once a Sena (UBT) bastion. The Sena (UBT) doesn't even have any MPs in Konkan now."There was no opportunity to build an organisation there. We tried many times. We said that we should appoint a district chief and take everyone along and build it at the booth level. But unfortunately, that was not happening there. Then if there is no opportunity, the workers with us will never get an opportunity. That is why I took this decision," Teli said."I did not ask for any post. I am not angry with anyone in the party.
