NEW DELHI: Homegrown telecom company Tata Communications on Wednesday said it has deployed its solutions for state-controlled Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's (BSNL) eSIM services nationwide. Specifically, Tata Communications, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Tata Communications Collaboration Services Private Ltd. (TCCSPL), has supplied its GSMA-accredited eSIM subscription management platform - Tata Communications MOVE. The Mumbai-based company said that the platform will enable BSNL to facilitate eSIM provisioning for millions of its pan-India mobile subscribers. The companies in a joint statement said that the launch of BSNL's eSIM services will enhance customer experience and future-proof mobile connectivity in the country with increased convenience, flexibility and security in cellular services. Powered by Tata Communications MOVE, BSNL eSIMs will enable remote provisioning of 2G, 3G, and 4G connectivity through a secure QR code. Moreover, users with devices supporting dual-SIM functionality can use an eSIM alongside a physical SIM, making it possible to securely connect with any local telco while travelling abroad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, last week on Saturday, launched BSNL's indigenous fourth-generation (4G) network nationwide. In August, the public sector telco had soft-launched its eSIM services in the Tamil Nadu circle, joining the league of its private sector rivals Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) that already commercially offer these services nationwide. BSNL had said the eSIM service will enable customers to activate mobile connections without a physical SIM on compatible smartphones and wearables, adding that it will be rolled out nationwide in a phased manner. BSNL has nearly 9 crore mobile users. "We are honoured to partner with BSNL to bring secure, scalable, and future-ready eSIM services to millions of citizens and enabling India's shift towards next-generation connectivity," said AS Lakshminarayanan, MD & CEO, Tata Communications.
