How can India still qualify for WTC final after Gabba Test ends in draw?

New Delhi: The third Test of the ongoing five-match Test series between Australia and India ended in a draw at The Gabba in Brisbane on Wednesday, December 18. Apart from Day 2, the remaining four days of the Test match were affected by the rain. Steve Smith and Travis Head notched up centuries as Australia scored 445 runs in the first innings and then dismissed India for 260 runs. The Men in Blue avoided the follow on Day 4 after Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah stitched a 47-run partnership for the last wicket. The hosts declared their second innings on 87 runs. With a minimum of 54 overs left in the day's play, Jaiswal and Rahul came to bat but the play stopped after 2.1 overs due to the bad light and the match called off as the rain got heavier in Brisbane. Updated World Test Championship (2023-2025) - Points Table Due to the draw in Brisbane, both Australia and India have settled with 4 WTC points each. Team India's percentage dropped from 57.29 to 55.77 after the third Test. South Africa is in first position on the table with a point percentage of 63.33 and Australia is in second spot with a point percentage of 58.98. How can Team India still qualify for WTC final? 1. If Rohit and Co. win the remaining two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, they will finish with 138 points and a point percentage of 60.52, eliminating Australia from the WTC final race. 2. If the Men in Blue win one Test match and draw another, they will finish with 130 points and a point percentage of 57.01. The Aussies can then qualify for the WTC final if they beat Sri Lanka by 2-0. 3. If India draw the series against Australia at 2-2, they will finish with 126 points and a point percentage of 55.26. Australia, in such case, can move ahead of Team India if they win at least one Test match against Sri Lanka.
