Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC K. Kavitha has launched a 72 hour hunger strike at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad on Monday (August 4, 2025) demanding 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BC) communities. The protest is designed to give 40 of approximately 112 BC communities a chance to put forth their problems. She said that they will not drink water or eat food for 72 hours. Stating that Telangana Jagruthi always stuck to the timings of protest fixed by the government, Ms. Kavitha appealed to the government to give permission for the hunger strike to be held for 72-hours. "If you deny this and take us to the police station or hospital or homes, we will stage the strike there," she said.
