New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned until 2 pm today following an uproar by Opposition members, who demanded a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar. As soon as the House met for the day at 11 am and Speaker Om Birla began the question hour, Opposition members stormed into the well of the House, shouting slogans. Some members were also carrying placards with slogans opposing the SIR process. Amid the chaos, Birla called a member to ask a question, which was answered by Union Minister Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya. Throughout the response of the Minister, Opposition members continued their protest. The Speaker urged them to return to their seats and allow the proceedings to continue. He said the public had elected the members to raise important issues and question the government in the House. "The people have high expectations from their representatives. Disrupting the House in an organised manner like this is not good for democracy," he said, urging members to uphold the dignity and decorum of the House. Birla assured the members that they could meet him after the question hour and that he would allow debates and discussions on every issue as per the rules and procedures. He mentioned that members could raise their concerns during the zero hour and highlighted that discussions on several important bills were scheduled. He also slammed the act of bringing placards into the House, calling it inappropriate. He remarked that the question hour was being deliberately disrupted, which goes against the traditions and decorum of the House. Maintaining dignity has always been the tradition of this House, where serious discussions have taken place, he said. He again appealed to the agitating Opposition members to return to their seats and let the proceedings continue. However, his repeated appeals had no effect, and the the commotion continued.
