Mumbai, Jul 18 (PTI) Shiv Sena Ministers Shambhuraj Desai and Dadaji Bhuse on Friday sought action against Shiv Sena (UBT) MLAs Aaditya Thackeray and Bhaskar Jadhav for their "indecent" gestures towards the speaker and the ruling benches in the Maharashtra assembly. Desai said the behaviour of the two legislators was an insult to the speaker and the House. On Thursday, Jadhav had alleged that Narwekar had acted in a biased manner by denying him the right of reply to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's response in the House. Raising the issue in the assembly, Desai said, "Making indecent gestures and passing comments towards the chair cannot be tolerated." Bhuse stood in support of Desai and demanded that the two opposition members either apologise or the speaker take action against them. Speaker Rahul Narwekar took objection to Jadhav and Thackeray speaking to the electronic media instead of putting forward their issues on the floor of the House. "It is not an insult to me personally, but it is an insult to the House," he said. Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar criticised Thackeray for his comments against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde while talking to the media. "There are children of former chief ministers here in the House. No one speaks in such a manner. Power comes and goes, but passing comments are wrong," he said. Jadhav said he regretted his remarks made in the electronic media and apologised. Members of the ruling Shiv Sena and the opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) faced off in the assembly on Thursday, leading to an uproar. The uproar began soon after Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who heads the Shiv Sena, completed his reply to a debate under Rule 293 of the assembly on issues related to housing and urban development, portfolios held by him. The rule allows for the raising of issues and a discussion on matters of public interest. As Shinde finished his response, MLA Jadhav stood up and demanded that he be allowed to exercise his right to reply to the government's response. However, Speaker Narwekar maintained that the right to reply is allowed only to the member who has initiated the discussion and that MLA (in this case Thackeray) was not present in the House at that moment. Jadhav was critical of the chair, and in the uproar that followed, Narwekar adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
