Mumbai: A week after maintaining discreet silence over his resignation, state NCP-SP president Jayant Patil on Monday denied reports of his resignation. "I have not resigned from state NCP president's post," Patil said.Significantly, barring NCP national spokesperson Jeetendra Awhad, most of the NCP leaders had confirmed Patil had resigned from state NCP president's post. NCP legislator Rohit Pawar had endorsed the reports on Patil's resignation, saying, a decision on his successor will be taken on July 15, during the special general body meeting of NCP. He had, however, said Patil would not leave the party to join Mahayuti even if he stepped down.Speculations were rife in political circles that Patil is on his way to join the BJP and that soon he will be inducted in the cabinet.
