Latur, Jul 14 (PTI) Several outfits held a protest in Latur on Monday against the attack on Sambhaji Brigade leader Pravin Gaikwad a day earlier in Akkalkot in Solapur district. Gaikwad was manhandled by activists of the Shiv Dharma Foundation on Sunday and ink was thrown him for his alleged remarks against Swami Samarth, a revered 19th century saint whose 'samadhi' is in Akkalkot. The protest in Latur was organised at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk at 11am by outfits like Maratha Kranti Morcha, Sambhaji Brigade, Jijau Brigade, Maratha Seva Sangh, Vir Bhagat Singh Vidyarthi Parishad, Progressive Youth Federation, Swabhimani Muslim Organization etc. They said the assault was a conspiracy by communal forces against those propagating progressive thoughts.
