Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A man died and eight others were injured after a waterproof tent collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds at Madhya Pradesh's Bageshwar Dham, Chhatarpur on Thursday. The incident occurred in Garha village under Bamitha police station. Here, a group of devotees had arrived from Ayodhya to attend the birthday celebration of spiritual leader Dhirendra Krishna Shastri on July 4. After the morning aarti at 7 am, it started raining. People rushed under a tent to take shelter. Due to water collecting on top and strong winds, the tent collapsed and trapped several people underneath. Women and Children Injured The deceased was identified as Lala Shyamlal Kaushal. Others, including women and children were injured and taken to Chhatarpur District Hospital. Those who got injured were Soumya, Parul, Unnati, Aryan, and Kamla. Rajesh, one of the injured and son-in-law of the deceased, said, "It started raining, so we ran under the tent. After the rain stopped, the tent suddenly collapsed. Many people got trapped. My father-in-law was hit on the head and died during treatment." 4 critical Bamitha Police Station in-charge Ashutosh Shrutiya confirmed that rainwater and wind caused the tent to collapse. 8 people were injured, out of which 4 are said to be serious. A case has been registered on the matter and an investigation is on.
